The Durham Gentle Dental is conveniently located on Southwest Pacific Highway near S.W. Durham Road, next to Starbucks.
We offer flexible hours for your convenience, including early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays (by appointment). We accept most insurance plans. For those without dental insurance, we offer our Gentle Dental Smile Plan that provides low-cost preventive and diagnostic care, as well as discounts of 20 percent or more on most dental treatments. We also have payment plans available as needed.

Gentle Dental aims to be as gentle on your wallet as our dentists are when providing treatment. Our professional staff will help you get the most from your dental insurance benefits and explain any deductibles and co-pays to you.

The Gentle Dental Smile Plan is perfect if you don’t have dental insurance and offers significant savings. The plan has no waiting period, involves no paperwork, and covers all pre-existing conditions.
You can enroll as an individual, couple or family and receive significant discounts on preventative services including exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and x-rays, as well as a host of other dental services. All other services including specialty care such as extractions, root canals, and orthodontics are discounted 20% from our list prices.
The Smile Plan is effective immediately and there are no claim forms to fill out and no maximums. Seniors 62 and older receive additional discounts on enrollment fees and parents can keep children on their family plan until age 26.

ABOUT ME
Dr. Mowrey, says, “I enjoy seeing the gratification and thankfulness on patient’s faces that I successively removed the tooth pain they had been suffering from. I also enjoy working with the apprehensive and fearful dental patient in reassuring and calming them for endodontic treatment. I am compassionate and gentle when performing treatment.”
“At age 12 while receiving dental treatment for a cavity I became fascinated in the procedure and instruments used. I also wanted to fulfill a wish from my mother in that she wanted me to become a dentist. In my spare time in college I would visit my personal dentist and observe the treatment performed.”
After graduating from the University of Oregon, Dr. Mowrey received his Dental Degree from the Oregon Health & Science University. He was awarded his M.S. in Oral Biology and his Endodontic Certificate from Northwestern University. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association and the Marshall Baumgartner Endodontic Study Club.
Dr. Mowrey, says, “I enjoy traveling to different countries to experience their cultures. In my spare time enjoying hiking in the national forests, and winter skiing.”
“I am retired from the U.S. Navy after 29 years of dental service. I have been stationed in the Philippines, Italy, Spain, Hawaii, and various commands within the continental U.S. I organized and conducted approximately 50 humanitarian civic action projects to underserved Filipinos.”

ABOUT ME
Dr. Sy enjoys making a difference in peoples lives, whether it is easing a patients anxiety, taking them out of pain or improving their smile. His goal is to provide a caring, comfortable and superior dental treatment so that each visit is an outstanding dental experience. He feels Dentistry combines creative artistry with the fundamentals of science and sees every day as an exciting challenge.
He encourages his patients to be involved in their treatment in order to achieve the best results possible, and is always open to questions and is attentive to each patient’s needs.
After graduating from Universite Cheikh Anta Diop, Dr. Sy received his Dental Degree from their School of Dentistry. To keep abreast of cutting edge technology, he’s a member of the American Dental Association and reads numerous dental publications.
